When Marty McFly went to the future in “Back to the Future 2,” he landed in 2015. Back when the movie came out, just about everything the movie showed seem too far-fetched to be possible. Now we still don’t have flying cars, but there were some cool concepts in the film that we actually can provide today. Since it is today and two years past how far Marty McFly got, there are even a few details that surpass the futuristic possibilities they had in the movie!

Finger Print Locks

In the movie, Marty finds himself at his future home and opens the front door with his finger print. It is supposed to only open for authorized users, but they didn’t know a past self with the same finger print was going to show up when they installed it.

We have this type of technology today. It is usually used at places of business with high security instead of residential like in the movie. A less expensive route would be to have an access control badging system. Hand out the badges to the people you want to allow in, and you should have no problems. But if you want to live like Marty Mcfly we can help you install a finger print system!

Home Automation Lights

When Jennifer from the past is taken home by the police, the officers warned her to reprogram her lights, so they turn on automatically when she walks in. Jennifer was overwhelmed and didn’t understand what they were talking about.

In today’s time, it is not very expensive to have a home automation system that turns on the lights when it detects motion. You can also control the lights from your smartphone. There are plenty of neat tricks you can do with your smartphone in regards to home automation. Lock the doors, open or close the garage, change the thermostat, turn on the television, and more can be handled while you are sitting on the couch or even out of town from your smartphone. They didn’t see all that coming back in the 80’s.

It is easy to take for granted how far we have come technologically, but sometimes we should sit back and appreciate the times we live in. All the technologies we have today was just some fantasy movie to the people who saw “Back to the Future” when it first came out. Even though we don’t have the flying cars yet, we have the video chats from the living room, hover boards, self-tying shoes, access control systems, smart homes, and all sorts of great devices that would blow people’s minds if you brought it back in time to them. With all this technology, we can make our homes and business safer. We can take care of our families at night knowing we have the security in place that can have the police at your door at a moment’s notice if someone tries to break in. We live in a scary world, but if you surround yourself with the right technology, you can be protected.
