Access Control

An access control system can be valuable for many reasons. First, you will want to grant the visitor a temporary access code so they can’t have access to your property once their stay is over. If multiple people are staying on your property at one time, give them each separate access codes so you can keep track of who is inside your home or apartment at any given time. One of the most important qualities of access control is that you can restrict individual bedrooms, liquor or medicine cabinets, and units containing valuables. Get real-time alerts when a restricted zone has been opened.

Video Surveillance

Airbnb requires hosts to reveal all cameras to the visitor and prohibit cameras from being in the bedroom and bathroom. The important places to put your security cameras are at all entry points and around restricted zones. Just the mere fact that the visitor knows you have cameras covering these areas, it will veer them away from trying to pull a fast one on you. On the other hand, it will make the visitor feel safer in a secured property.

Monitor from Your Smartphone

Especially if you are renting out a home that you are not present at, it is smart to activate mobile monitoring with your security system. Keep tabs on your visitor from wherever you are by opening up your app on your phone. If you noticed your guest left the property without locking the doors, do so yourself to protect yours and your guest’s valuables from possible invaders. If your security system has been triggered, visually see what was the problem to determine whether it was a mistake or something bad is happening. This also helps keep peace of mind to a visitor knowing that if something goes wrong, you will be aware of it and be able to help right away.
